The Project
Bruised and battered by the same storms that demolished the sea wall at nearby Dawlish, the historic Teignmouth pier was breached by the waves coming up through the floor, smashing the timber structure and damaging the amusements and finishes.
James Lockyer Associates worked closely with the owners and contractor to reinstate the pier at the earliest opportunity. Initial stripping out was arranged and the reinstatement design developed as works progressed to ensure this.
The arrangements included phasing the works to enable relocation of equipment that was to be retained, whilst works were carried out to the damaged areas which became more extensive as the site was opened up.
Improvements were made to the general arrangement of the internal spaces and we provided interior design support to achieve the finishes required.
