As a chartered loss adjuster or solicitor there are times when you need to engage consulting engineers to work closely with in connection with investigation of property damaged by subsidence, fire, storm or other cause, in cases to undertake forensic investigations and provide expert advice on building and construction matters and aspects of liability, and where appropriate to arrange rebuilding or reinstatement of this damage.
With a background encompassing professional services in building, civil and structural engineering as well as loss adjusting, you can depend on James Lockyer Associates to provide this support, and benefit from our experience in the assessment and appraisal of damage and defects in buildings and structures, and understanding of the many complex issues involved.
You will be in good company as we have established continuing and mutually beneficial relationships with a number of chartered loss adjusters for whom we act on a regular basis, and routinely provide advice and support to solicitors for their clients.
If you, like them, have a need for objective and responsive professional advice and support across a range of building and engineering issues in the built environment you will find that our team of qualified engineers and technicians have the competence and experience you are looking for, and an appreciation of the need for sympathetic and considerate dealings with people who are often inexperienced and unaccustomed to such matters in what can be distressing circumstances.

Following the floods of 2004, we were asked to oversee the reinstatement works to four of the six shops on Bridge Walk, as well several other projects in Boscastle, Crackington Haven and surrounding villages.
Working closely with the owners, loss-adjusters, contractors and the Local Authority; the company managed both the reinstatement works and additional works requested by the owners, including the installation of new glazing more in keeping with the environs.

After two bridges on the estate were damaged by severe flooding we were commissioned by the National Trust with the agreement of loss adjusters to appraise the damage and condition, and arrange reinstatement.
Both were found to be beyond repair, and our engineers were responsible for the conceptual and detailed design, and project management of the replacement structures.
Challenges overcome included the planning and environmental concerns associated with working in a flood plain and an area of great beauty, during and after the foot and mouth outbreak, a medieval stone wall near one of the bridges limiting access to small plant only, and producing an affordable solution.

Over the years we have been involved in numerous investigations and remedial works for subsidence and landslip damage to buildings and structures, and with a legacy of mining in several areas of Cornwall, we are often asked to investigate, and where necessary remedy damage due to mining subsidence and instability.
We have also arranged repairs and reconstruction of fire, storm and impact damaged commercial and residential buildings throughout the region.
